ea560e9486 Remove deprecated virtual methods
Several revisions ago, the ability to use virtual methods in the
execution environment was deprecated. Completely remove this
functionality for the VTK-m 2.0 release.

2945813755 Removed ExecutionWholeArray class
`ExecutionWholeArray` is an archaic class in VTK-m that is a thin wrapper
around an array portal. In the early days of VTK-m, this class was used to
transfer whole arrays to the execution environment. However, now the
supported method is to use `WholeArray*` tags in the `ControlSignature` of
a worklet.

Nevertheless, the `WholeArray*` tags caused the array portal transferred to
the worklet to be wrapped inside of an `ExecutionWholeArray` class. This
is unnecessary and can cause confusion about the types of data being used.

Most code is unaffected by this change. Some code that had to work around
the issue of the portal wrapped in another class used the `GetPortal`
method which is no longer needed (for obvious reasons). One extra feature
that `ExecutionWholeArray` had was that it provided an subscript operator
(somewhat incorrectly). Thus, any use of '[..]' to index the array portal
have to be changed to use the `Get` method.

9d5d9e38a1 Remove testing headers from benchmarking
The code in `vtkm/cont/Testing.h` now requires a library, which is not
built if testing is not built. Thus, the benchmarking code was giving a
compile error if benchmarking was on but testing was off.

Change the benchmarking to not rely on anything in the Testing
framework. This means using classes in `vtkm/source` instead of
`MakeTestData`. Also avoid using the `TestValue` defined for the tests.
(In one case, we have a simple replacement.) Also had to fix a problem
with a header file not defining everything it needed to compile.

a6725b3acd Remove use of deprecated ImplicitFunctions with virtual methods
Unfortunately, this introduces a backward-incompatible change with the
filters that use ImplicitFunctions. Before, they would get an
ImplicitFunctionHandle. This class is deprecated, and there is no easy
way to get back the actual type of implicit function stored in it.

0cddbef0b9 Deprecated virutal methods in ImplicitFunctions
The `ImplicitFunction` classes are now trivial classes that can be
passed among host and devices. Because of this, we now need to know the
type of the `ImplicitFunction` in order to use it.

The old functionality still exists (when virtual methods are still being
compiled), but will give deprecation warnings. It is also not possible
to get a pointer from `ImplicitFunctionHandle` and cast it back to the
original data type (because the type changed). This is a weird testing
feature that makes little sense in practice.

Also unsupported in the deprecated classes is the ability to change
the object and have those changes reflected in the handle. This is
unfortunate, but it would have been difficult to implement this
feature that is going away and only appears to be used in some of
the tests.

0797359c57 Make ExecutionWholeArray objects not depend on device type
With recent changes to `Arrayhandle`, the type for the associated array
portal is now the same across all devices. This means that almost all
exec objects no longer need to be specialized on the device types. Thus,
clean up the whole array exec objects to no longer need to be templated
on device.

63ef84ed78 Optionally remove all use of ArrayHandleVirtual
As we remove more and more virtual methods from VTK-m, I expect several
users will be interested in completely removing them from the build for
several reasons.

1. They may be compiling for hardware that does not support virtual
methods.
2. They may need to compile for CUDA but need shared libraries.
3. It should go a bit faster.

To enable this, a CMake option named `VTKm_NO_DEPRECATED_VIRTUAL` is
added. It defaults to `OFF`. But when it is `ON`, none of the code that
both uses virtuals and is deprecated will be built.

Currently, only `ArrayHandleVirtual` is deprecated, so the rest of the
virtual classes will still be built. As we move forward, more will be
removed until all virtual method functionality is removed.

b05bd33d3c benchmarks: pass unparsed args to Google benchmark
- It also adds Google's benchmarch compare.py script
  - It is installed to the build directory.

- It add a wrapper script called compare-benchmarks.py which:
  - Let you run each of the benchmarks with different devices

- It adds a README.md explaining how to run the benchmarks

- BenchmarkDeviceAdapter input size range parametrized at compile time

ad0a53af71 Convert execution preparation to use tokens
Marked the old versions of PrepareFor* that do not use tokens as
deprecated and moved all of the code to use the new versions that
require a token. This makes the scope of the execution object more
explicit so that it will be kept while in use and can potentially be
reclaimed afterward.

5db762ee71 Refactor topology mappings to clarify meaning.
The `From` and `To` nomenclature for topology mapping has been confusing for
both users and developers, especially at lower levels where the intention of
mapping attributes from one element to another is easily conflated with the
concept of mapping indices (which maps in the exact opposite direction).

These identifiers have been renamed to `VisitTopology` and `IncidentTopology`
to clarify the direction of the mapping. The order in which these template
parameters are specified for `WorkletMapTopology` have also been reversed,
since eventually there may be more than one `IncidentTopology`, and having
`IncidentTopology` at the end will allow us to replace it with a variadic
template parameter pack in the future.

Other implementation details supporting these worklets, include `Fetch` tags,
`Connectivity` classes, and methods on the various `CellSet` classes (such as
`PrepareForInput` have also reversed their template arguments. These will need
to be cautiously updated.

The convenience implementations of `WorkletMapTopology` have been renamed for
clarity as follows:

WorkletMapPointToCell --> WorkletVisitCellsWithPoints
WorkletMapCellToPoint --> WorkletVisitPointsWithCells
```

The `ControlSignature` tags have been renamed as follows:

```
FieldInTo --> FieldInVisit
FieldInFrom --> FieldInMap
FromCount --> IncidentElementCount
FromIndices --> IncidentElementIndices
```

7e04b0511f Move Invoker into vtkm/cont
The Invoker is a control side object that handles the construction
of the relevant worklet dispatcher. Moving it to control makes it
obvious that it isn't an algorithm itself but a way to launch
worklets.

eaf87e4519 Remove special ArrayHandleMultiplexer template case
There was a special case for ArrayHandleMultiplexer where if you gave it
just one type it would treat that as a value type rather than an array
to support and instead provide a default list of types. However, GCC 4.8
is having trouble compiling the code to create the default list, the
semantics are confusing, and the more I think about it the less likely I
think we will need this functionality. So, just getting rid of that.

866e1d7d5b Update comparison for virtual and multiplexer arrays
Previously the "dynamic" array was taken from a VariantArrayHandle.
However, the VariantArrayHandle will actually cast to a basic array, so
the comparison is not particularly fair. Change that to an
ArrayHandleVirtual so that it is actually calling through a virtual
method.

Also make 2 versions of the multiplexer test. The first version has an
array that is at the 1st index and the second is at the last index. This
tests whether the compiled code has to do lots of actual comparisons to
get to the last index.

634f523d92 Merge benchmark executables into a device dependent shared library
VTK-m has been updated to replace old per device benchmark executables with a device
dependent shared library so that it's able to accept a device adapter at runtime through
the "--device=" argument.

415252c662 Introduce asynchronous and device independent timer
The timer class now is asynchronous and device independent. it's using an
similiar API as vtkOpenGLRenderTimer with Start(), Stop(), Reset(), Ready(),
and GetElapsedTime() function. For convenience and backward compability, Each
Start() function call will call Reset() internally and each GetElapsedTime()
function call will call Stop() function if it hasn't been called yet for keeping
backward compatibility purpose.

Bascially it can be used in two modes:

* Create a Timer without any device info. vtkm::cont::Timer time;

  * It would enable timers for all enabled devices on the machine. Users can get a
specific elapsed time by passing a device id into the GetElapsedtime function.
If no device is provided, it would pick the maximum of all timer results - the
logic behind this decision is that if cuda is disabled, openmp, serial and tbb
roughly give the same results; if cuda is enabled it's safe to return the
maximum elapsed time since users are more interested in the device execution
time rather than the kernal launch time. The Ready function can be handy here
to query the status of the timer.

* Create a Timer with a device id. vtkm::cont::Timer time((vtkm::cont::DeviceAdapterTagCuda()));

  * It works as the old timer that times for a specific device id.

a52211e565 Fix conversion errors in benchmarking code
The recent removal of type selectors in ControlSignature field tags
means that the BenchmarkFieldAlgorithms code was creating code paths
that were never followed and lead to impossible type conversions (e.g.
Vec to float). Fixed the problem by specifing the types for the
VariantArrayHandles better.

d879188de0 Make DispatcherBase invoke using a TryExecute
Rather than force all dispatchers to be templated on a device adapter,
instead use a TryExecute internally within the invoke to select a device
adapter.

Because this removes the need to declare a device when invoking a
worklet, this commit also removes the need to declare a device in
several other areas of the code.
