5ef4e7eeee Make new style of ArrayHandle the expected style
What was previously declared as `ArrayHandleNewStyle` is now just the
implementation of `ArrayHandle`. The old implementation of `ArrayHandle`
has been moved to `ArrayHandleDeprecated`, and `ArrayHandle`s still
using this implementation must declare `VTKM_ARRAY_HANDLE_DEPRECATED` to
use it.

df1dd51f8c Convert ArrayHandleZip to new buffer-style array 2020-12-07 08:52:38 -07:00

05fea4d170 Bridge old-style ArrayHandle to new-style
The new-style `ArrayHandle` uses `Buffer` objects to manage data. Thus,
when one is decorating the other, it expects to find the `Buffer`
objects, which the old-style `ArrayHandle`s do not have. To make the two
work together, fake buffers in the old-style arrays.

The buffers in old-style arrays are empty, but have metadata that points
back to the `ArrayHandle.

76ce9c87f0 Support using Token calling PrepareForExecution in ExecutionObject
The old version of ExecutionObject (that only takes a device) is still
supported, but you will get a deprecated warning if that is what is
defined.

Supporing this also included sending vtkm::cont::Token through the
vtkm::cont::arg::Transport mechanism, which was a change that propogated
through a lot of code.

813f5a422f Fixup custom portal iterator logic.
The convenience functions `ArrayPortalToIteratorBegin()` and
`ArrayPortalToIteratorEnd()` wouldn't detect specializations of
`ArrayPortalToIterators<PortalType>` since the specializations aren't
visible when the `Begin`/`End` functions are declared.

Since the CUDA iterators rely on a specialization, the convenience
functions would not compile on CUDA.

Now, instead of specializing `ArrayPortalToIterators` to provide custom
iterators for a particular portal, the portal may advertise custom
iterators by defining `IteratorType`, `GetIteratorBegin()`, and
`GetIteratorEnd()`. `ArrayPortalToIterators` will detect such portals
and automatically switch to using the specialized portals.

This eliminates the need for the specializations to be visible to the
convenience functions and allows them to be usable on CUDA.

7e01edb017 Ensure that Portal::Set isn't defined for read-only portals.
This patch removes (or conditionally removes) the Set method from
portals that are read-only so that IsWritableArrayHandle will work as
expected. The ArrayPortal doxygen has been updated to reflect this.

The remaining exceptions are `ArrayPortalVirtual` and
`ArrayPortalMultiplexer`, since their mutability cannot be determined at
compile time.

d8d6fd1741 StorageTags are now always exported to resolve future dynamic_cast issues.
Class that need to be passed across dynamic library boundaries such as
DynamicArrayHandle need to be properly export. One of 'tricks' of this
is that templated classes such as PolymorphicArrayHandleContainer need
the Type and Storage types to have public visibility.

This makes sure that all vtkm storage tags have public visibility so
in the future we can transfer dynamic array handles across libraries.

fdaccc22db Remove exports for header-only functions/methods
Change the VTKM_CONT_EXPORT to VTKM_CONT. (Likewise for EXEC and
EXEC_CONT.) Remove the inline from these macros so that they can be
applied to everything, including implementations in a library.

Because inline is not declared in these modifies, you have to add the
keyword to functions and methods where the implementation is not inlined
in the class.

65c2261892 Add default constructors/destructors/assignment to ArrayHandle classes
The ArrayHandle classes all exclusively work in the control environment.
However, CUDA likes to add __device__ to constructors, destructors, and
assignment operators it automatically adds. This in turn causes warnings
about the __device__ function using host-only classes (like
boost::shared_ptr). Solve this problem by adding explicit methods for
all of these.

Implemented this by wrapping up all these default objects in a macro.
This also solved the problem of other constructors that are necessary
for array handles such as a constructor that takes the base array
handle.

7ff62d8d6b Explicitly add destructors and copy constructors to ArrayHandle classes
Under CUDA, the default constructors and destructors created are exported
as __host__ and __device__, which causes problems because they used a boost
pointer that only works on the host. The explicit copy constructors and
destructors do the same thing as the default ones except declared to only
work on the host.

2a2159b1e1 Generalize the support for zip handles inside the cuda backend.
Instead of having a single specialization for sort and zip handles,
we know handle any fancy handles being passed to the cuda device adapter.
This was done by reworking how we represent fancy iterators inside thrust,
and instead of using a transform iterator + counting iterator we just use
a iterator_facade.
