I originally wanted to do this a long time (a31301d) but IIRC back then it didn't compile. Nowadays with the splitup of the gold linking flags and the binutils integration, it's merely just a switch to flip, so let's do that. Only tested it by building against the current Chromium stable version on 64bit, because right now builds on Hydra seem to time out (because of this?) anyway so we have nothing to lose here. The linking time was hereby reduced from >30 minutes (I didn't measure it exactly but looked half an hour later to the build progress and it was *still* linking) to about a few seconds, which I guess is even though the measurement is quite bogus a tremendous improvement nonetheless. Nixpkgs is a collection of packages for the Nix package manager. It is periodically built and tested by the hydra build daemon as so-called channels. To get channel information via git, add nixpkgs-channels as a remote:
% git remote add channels git://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs-channels.git
For stability and maximum binary package support, it is recommended to maintain
custom changes on top of one of the channels, e.g. nixos-15.09
for the latest
release and nixos-unstable
for the latest successful build of master:
% git remote update channels
% git rebase channels/nixos-15.09
For pull-requests, please rebase onto nixpkgs master
.
NixOS linux distribution source code is located inside
nixos/
folder.
