0dafa97ea3 UI translation from inside Blender UI: first part.
This commit reshapes a bit runtime button info getter, by adding a new uiButGetStrInfo() which accepts a variable number of uiStringInfo parameters, and tries to fill them with the requested strings, for the given button (label, tip, context, RNA identifier, keymap, etc.). Currently used mostly by existing ui_tooltip_create(), and new UI_OT_edittranslation_init operator.

It also adds a few getters (to get RNA i18n context, and current language iso code).

Finally, it adds to C operators needed for the py ui_translation addon:
*UI_OT_edittranslation_init, which gathers requested data and launch the py operator.
*UI_OT_reloadtranslation, which forces a full reload of the whole UI translation (including rechecking the directory containing mo files).

For the first operator to work, it also adds a new user preferences path: i18n_branches_directory, to point to the /branch part of a bf-translation checkout.

83093d6770 Extended modes for snapping in the node editor.
The transform operators in nodes will now use the unselected nodes to generate snapping points. Unlike object snapping, node snapping works for the x/y axes separately and snaps node borders to same borders of unselected nodes. The sensitive area for node borders extends over the whole view2D range, to enable simple alignment of nodes in both x and y direction.

For snap points in the node editor an additional enum value is stored to indicate the type of node border (left/right/top/bottom). This works as a constraint on possible node alignments: only same border types align with each other.

855b6391ea Basic snapping in node transform operator.
Snapping actually was working already, but grid spacing was set to 1.0, which is basically pixel size in the node editor. Increased this to 1x grid step for fine snapping and 5x grid step for rough snapping.

Grid drawing in node editor now draws 2 levels in slightly different shades to indicate the different snapping modes better.

Node editor also supports the general use_snap tool setting to enable automatic snapping during transform. For now only the incremental snapping is supported, in future could be extended to enable alignment between nodes in a number of ways.

aa30e20272 Fix #31852: Sequencer duplicate cant move strips on Y axis in a meta
Issue was caused by some stuff happenign in wm_operator_finish() which uses

Solved by not calling translation operator directly from duplication operator

duplication operator which simply duplicates strip, and then calls translation
operator.

5dc0b35a01 Added frame offset slider to clip datablocks
In contrast to start_frame (which affects on where footage actually
starts to play and also affects on all data associated with a clip
such as motion tracking, reconstruction and so on) this slider only
affects on a way how frame number is mapping to a filename, without
touching any kind of tracking data.

The formula is:
  file_name = clip_file_name + frame_offset - (start_frame - 1)

55ca0e7636 Make dopesheet settings per-tracking data
It was a bit confusing to synchronize settings used in pre-calculated
dopesheet channels which was storing in tracking data with settings
used for display which is in space data.

This was initially done by converting one flags to other and checking
if space's settings matches pre-calculated one, but that had several
issues if two different dopesheet are using different settings:

- Channels would be re-calculated on every redraw for each of spaces
- Dopesheet operators could fail due to the could be using channels
  calculated for other space.

That was also quite nasty code checking if requested settings matches
pre-calculated one.

25bb441301 Planar tracking support for motion tracking
===========================================

Major list of changes done in tomato branch:

- Add a planar tracking implementation to libmv
This adds a new planar tracking implementation to libmv. The
tracker is based on Ceres[1], the new nonlinear minimizer that
myself and Sameer released from Google as open source. Since
the motion model is more involved, the interface is
different than the RegionTracker interface used previously
  in Blender.

The start of a C API in libmv-capi.{cpp,h} is also included.

- Migrate from pat_{min,max} for markers to 4 corners representation

Convert markers in the movie clip editor / 2D tracker from using
pat_min and pat_max notation to using the a more general, 4-corner
  representation.

There is still considerable porting work to do; in particular
sliding from preview widget does not work correct for rotated
  markers.

All other areas should be ported to new representation:

  * Added support of sliding individual corners. LMB slide + Ctrl
    would scale the whole pattern
  * S would scale the whole marker, S-S would scale pattern only
  * Added support of marker's rotation which is currently rotates
only patterns around their centers or all markers around median,

Rotation or other non-translation/scaling transformation of search
    area doesn't make sense.

  * Track Preview widget would display transformed pattern which
    libmv actually operates with.

- "Efficient Second-order Minimization" for the planar tracker

This implements the "Efficient Second-order Minimization"
scheme, as supported by the existing translation tracker.
This increases the amount of per-iteration work, but
decreases the number of iterations required to converge and
also increases the size of the basin of attraction for the
  optimization.

- Remove the use of the legacy RegionTracker API from Blender,
and replaces it with the new TrackRegion API. This also
adds several features to the planar tracker in libmv:

  * Do a brute-force initialization of tracking similar to "Hybrid"
mode in the stable release, but using all floats. This is slower
but more accurate. It is still necessary to evaluate if the
performance loss is worth it. In particular, this change is
necessary to support high bit depth imagery.

  * Add support for masks over the search window. This is a step
towards supporting user-defined tracker masks. The tracker masks
will make it easy for users to make a mask for e.g. a ball.

    Not exposed into interface yet/

  * Add Pearson product moment correlation coefficient checking (aka
"Correlation" in the UI. This causes tracking failure if the
tracked patch is not linearly related to the template.

  * Add support for warping a few points in addition to the supplied
points. This is useful because the tracking code deliberately
does not expose the underlying warp representation. Instead,
warps are specified in an aparametric way via the correspondences.

- Replace the old style tracker configuration panel with the
new planar tracking panel. From a users perspective, this means:

  * The old "tracking algorithm" picker is gone. There is only 1
algorithm now. We may revisit this later, but I would much
prefer to have only 1 algorithm. So far no optimization work
has been done so the speed is not there yet.

  * There is now a dropdown to select the motion model. Choices:

        * Translation
        * Translation, rotation
        * Translation, scale
        * Translation, rotation, scale
        * Affine
        * Perspective

  * The old "Hybrid" mode is gone; instead there is a toggle to
enable or disable translation-only tracker initialization. This
is the equivalent of the hyrbid mode before, but rewritten to work
with the new planar tracking modes.

  * The pyramid levels setting is gone. At a future date, the planar
tracker will decide to use pyramids or not automatically. The
pyramid setting was ultimately a mistake; with the brute force
    initialization it is unnecessary.

- Add light-normalized tracking

Added the ability to normalize patterns by their average value while
tracking, to make them invariant to global illumination changes.

54297c8d13 Clip editor: cleanup up header
One side of change is related on making code easier to follow, due it started
being quite messy because of all in-lined mode/view checks. Now there's a bit
of code duplication, but it's much easier to see what's going on there.

Another side of patch is related on re-arranging elements in header in a way
that follows rule "depending elements are placed after elements they depends on".
This might be a bit against mostly-used-based elements placement, but now it's
much easier to figure out where to add new option. Also it fits better other
blender's areas such as image editor header, i.e.

f43a733f59 Changed semantic of recently added start_frame
Now it's indicates at which scene frame number movie clip starts playing back.
This this setting is still belongs to clip datavlock and used by all users of
clip such as movie compositor nodes, constraints and so.

After long discussion and thoughts about this it was decided that this would
match image's current behavior (which initially seen a bit crappy), but that's
actually allows:

- Keep semantics of start frame in image and clip datablocks in sync
- Allows to support features like support of loading image sequences
with crappy numbers in suffix which doesn't fit long int.
- Allows to eliminate extra boolean checkbox to control such kind of offset.

Hopefully from pipeline POV it wouldn't hurt because idea of having this things
implemented in original way was working only if sequence before processing
started naming form 001.

0d61876ed0 Configurable start frame for movie clip datablocks as alternative to automatic start frame number
Number of start frame in opened image sequence used to be distinguished automatically
in a way that file name used on open would be displayed at scene frame #1.

But sometimes it's useful to have it manually configurable (like in cases when you're
processing image sequence and replacing clip's filepath to postprocessed image sequence
and want new clip to show at the same frame range as it was rendered from).

Added Custom Start Frame flag to movie clip (could be accessed from Footage panel in
clip editor) and Start Frame which means number of frame from sequence which would
be displayed at scene frame #1.

For example if you've got clip pointing to file render_00100.png and Start Frame of 100
this file would be displayed at scene frame #1, if Start Frame is 1 then this image
would be displayed at scene frame #100,

58bc424b3c BGE #30734: add support for physics linear and angular thresholds and deactivation time from python and GUI.
========================
The linear and angular thresholds set the speed limit (in m/s) and rotation limit (in rad/s)
under which a rigid body will go to sleep (stop moving) if it stays below the limits for a
time equal or longer than the deactivation time (sleeping is disabled is deactivation time is
set to 0).
These settings help reducing the processing spent on Physics during the game.

Previously they were only accessible from python but not working because of a bug.
Now the python functions are working and the settings are available in the Physics panel
of the World settings when using the Blender Game render engine.

dfc19a1ff7 BGE patch #28476: Character object physics type
===============================================
This patch adds a new "Character" BGE physics type which uses Bullet's btKinematicCharacter for simulation instead of full-blown dynamics. It is appropiate for (player-controlled) characters, for which the other physics types often result unexpected results (bouncing off walls, sliding etc.) and for which simple kinematics offers much more precision.

"Character" can be chosen like any other physics type in the "Physics" section of the properties window. Current settings for tweaking are "Step Height" (to make the object automatically climb small steps if it collides with them), "Fall Speed" (the maximum speed that the object can have when falling) and "Jump Speed", which is currently not used.

See http://projects.blender.org/tracker/?func=detail&atid=127&aid=28476&group_id=9
for sample blends and a discussion on the patch: how to use it and what influences the behavior of the character object.

Known problem: there is a crash if the "compound" option is set in the physics panel of the Character object.

8e97203f7d Restoring Group Colours for Animation Channels - Part 1
This commit restores the group colours support for F-Curves and F-Curve Groups
in the DopeSheet and Graph Editors. Currently the relevant settings for groups
are only exposed via RNA, but a followup commit will add support for
automatically setting these colours. By default, DopeSheet and Graph Editors are
set to display these colours if/when they are available.

This functionality used to be in 2.48, and is a useful mechanism for visually
distinguishing between channels for different controls when animating (if group
colours are used on the rigs too).

28002edb6b Finish changes in up/down arrows for menus
Restored single triangle for special menus, which still isn't perfect but
probably makes more sense.

Added drawflag bit flags to button, which is currently used to declare, that
button need to have up/down arrows. This is needed because it's tricky to
distinguish if button should have such arrows. For example, ID search buttons
is a simple block button which doesn't directly mean it'll have pop-up menu
and not all buttons which cases pop-up menu to display need to have such
arrows.

So currently only ID selector button is forcing up/down arrows to be displayed,
all the rest buttons now behaves in the same way as it used to be before.

8801330c18 Add skin modifier: DNA, RNA, UI, and MOD_skin.c implementation.
Skin modifier documentation:
http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/User:Nicholasbishop/SkinModifier

Implementation based in part off the paper "B-Mesh: A Fast Modeling
System for Base Meshes of 3D Articulated Shapes" (Zhongping Ji,
Ligang Liu, Yigang Wang)

Note that to avoid confusion with Blender's BMesh data structure,
this tool is renamed as the Skin modifier.

The B-Mesh paper is current available here:
http://www.math.zju.edu.cn/ligangliu/CAGD/Projects/BMesh/

The main missing features in this code compared to the paper are:

* No mesh evolution. The paper suggests iteratively subsurfing the
skin output and adapting the output to better conform with the
spheres of influence surrounding each vertex.

* No mesh fairing. The paper suggests re-aligning output edges to
  follow principal mesh curvatures.

* No auxiliary balls. These would serve to influence mesh
evolution, which as noted above is not implemented.

The code also adds some features not present in the paper:

* Loops in the input edge graph.

* Concave surfaces around branch nodes. The paper does not discuss
how to handle non-convex regions; this code adds a number of
cleanup operations to handle many (though not all) of these
  cases.

53b01d9002 A number of new features for the node editor in general and the Frame node in particular.
For an detailed user-level description of new features see the following blogpost:

http://code.blender.org/index.php/2012/05/node-editing-tweaks/

TL;DR:
* Frame node gets more usable bounding-box behavior
* Node resizing has helpful mouse cursor indicators and works on all borders
* Node selection/active colors are themeable independently
* Customizable background colors for nodes (useful for frames visual
distinction).

5f95f7d2ad Add input sample averaging to PaintStroke.
Averages input samples to make the brush stroke smoother. Only mouse
location is averaged right now, not pressure/tilt/etc.

The DNA is in struct Paint.num_input_samples, RNA is
Paint.input_samples. In combination with PaintStroke usage this change
applies to sculpt, vpaint, and wpaint.

The range of useful values varies quite a bit depending on input
device; mouse needs higher values to match tablet pen, so set max
samples pretty high (64).

1b14c85e57 KeyingSets UI - Improving button layout for legibility of buttons
* Use custom names for the keying options enum. The old automated layout dumped
out lengthy names which
didn't work well with the limited UI widths we were using, leading to all the
interesting stuff getting cropped out

* Moved the "array target" options to be in line with the rest of the target
specification stuff. I've ended up flattening that set of options into a single
row, which seems to work quite well.

* Removed label from grouping method enum. There was a perfectly good section
header above, and with narrow UI's, the name of this and the one below ended up
looking the same/confusing.

364388b9f2 Removing the old armature 'deform' settings (use vertex groups/envelopes/quats).
As far as I could tell, these were really only still used for "virtual
modifiers", though we really don't use these anymore. Instead, most of the time,
people need to set these settings in armature modifiers directly (these didn't
even get copied over in that case). This was a source of confusion and
redundancy, so removing these now.

This change can be reverted if these were actually of some use out there...

d7fbe03a8a Fisheye Camera for Cycles
For sample images see:
http://www.dalaifelinto.com/?p=399 (equisolid)
http://www.dalaifelinto.com/?p=389 (equidistant)

The 'use_panorama' option is now part of a new Camera type: 'Panorama'.
Created two other panorama cameras:

- Equisolid: most of lens in the market simulate this lens - e.g. Nikon, Canon, ...)
this works as a real lens up to an extent. The final result takes the
             sensor dimensions into account also.
             .:. to simulate a Nikon DX2S with a 10.5mm lens do:
                 sensor: 23.7 x 15.7
                 fisheye lens: 10.5
                 fisheye fov: 180
                 render dimensions: 4288 x 2848

- Equidistant: this is not a real lens model. Although the old equidistant lens simulate
this lens. The result is always as a circular fisheye that takes the whole sensor
(in other words, it doesn't take the sensor into consideration).
This is perfect for fulldomes ;)

For the UI we have 10 to 360 as soft values and 10 to 3600 as hard values (because we can).

48ead27366 Camera tracking: switch dopesheet information to lazy calculation
All operators which changes tracking data now just tags dopsheet as outdated,
actual re-calculaiton of happens only when this information is actually needed
(like on dopesheet draw).

This makes things a bit faster when there's no dopesheet visible in current
screen and also makes it much easier to update dopesheet using dependency
graph.

Also renamed dopesheet_sort_order to dopesheet_sort_method in rna and internal
stuff which makes much more sense and also correlated with naming in
file browser.

Internally tracks are stored in Tracking datablock, but sort order is
a clip editor space property and sorting happens on clip editor draw.
If there's no dopesheet opened with different sort orders it's not
a problem due to re-sorting wouldn't happen.

ffc9fcb1a1 Motion Paths GUI Cleanup
This commit refactors the way that the Motion Paths GUI works. The key problems
this tries to address are:
1) Mode error - Confusion about whether we're dealing with the Object or Pose
level Motion Paths panel
2) Display settings vs Baking Settings

In line with the original design intentions for the 2.5/6 Properties Editor,
I've now split out the actual baking-related settings away from the Properties
Editor:
* Now, when clicking "Calculate Paths" from the toolbar, you'll be prompted with
a dialog to select the start/end frames (and for bones, whether to bake from
heads or tails). This is less confusing than relying on firstly setting the
range via the display range settings (and baking using that), since many people
apparently only used the "around current" mode, and were confused why things
weren't working

* Added a display of the frame ranges of the current baked Motion Path on the
active Object/Bone. This makes it clearer/easier to debug if the path suddenly
starts disappearing after a certain frame.

* Replaced Calculate/Clear Paths in the panels with a single "Update" button if
there's already a baked Motion Path.

Hopefully these changes (in combination with some of the other bugfixes) will
make it more obvious how everything works.

f111131ca6 Camera tracking: initial commit of dopesheet view for clip editor
- Displays dopesheet information for selected tracks, and currently does not
  support any kind of editing.
- Changed regions to use the whole main region for such views as curves and dopesheet.
This allows to have own panels with tools/properties in this area.
- Active clip is getting synchronized between different clip editor editors in the
same screen, so updating of curve/dopesheet views happens automatically when one
changes current clip in one of this editors.
- Panels in toolbox and properties panels are now separated to rely on current view
mode, but some operators and poll functions still need to be updated.
- Added new screen called "Movie Tracking" where layout is configured to
display timeline, main clip window, curves and dopesheet.

Added readfile code to the patch: subversion bumped to 1, brushes get
default weight of 0.5, unified weight enabled by default and value
from old vgroup_weight field.

8bf8a128c2 Smoke: Support for moving obstacles. (Merge from Smoke2 branch)
Sponsored by the Blender Development Fund.

Remarks:
The original code was not designed to support moving obstacles so I had to introduce some velocity constraints into the code to prevent smoke from exploding. If this causes problems with "fire" emulation, please let me know.

51a4188105 Camera tracking: support of tripod motion solving
Expose option into interface to use modal solver which currently
supports only tripod motion.

This solver requires two tracks at least to reconstruct motion.
Using more tracks aren't improving solution in general, just adds
instability into solution and slows down things a lot.

Refirement of camera intrinsics was disabled due to it's not only
refines camera intrinsics but also adjusts camera position which
isn't necessary here

To use this solver just activate "Tripod Motion" checkbox in
solver panel.

Merged from tomato: svn merge ^/branches/soc-2011-tomato -r45622:45624 -r46036:46037

P.S. Quite experimental yet, requires more checking and probably
tweaks to prevent camera jumps when tracks apperars/disappears
from the screen.

3d851bfd5b knife tool modifications
from user freedback it seems there are 2 use cases, both valid.
* Select geometry and cut the selection in half (as 2.4x worked)
* Point-to-point define the faces to cut, dont cut through everything (only cut what you see).

With the second, since you are already selecting the edges to cut and snapping to them. only cutting the selecting is limiting/annoying.

Modifying these options while the knife tool runs doesn't work well, so expose under 2 keys, K, Shift-K.

After discussion with Campbell we found much nicer solution which
keeps operation with data much more clear:

- Refresh Sequencer is totally harmless, do not touch actual data

- Reload Strip will reload data and adjust it's length for all

- Reload Strip and Adjust length will do the same but will also

StripElems are *only* usefull for MOVIE + IMAGE strips for all other strip

709ca0ece9 "Fix" for [#30098] Particle rotation wrong / explode modifier
- The main problem was that in order to be accurate all particle
rotations have to be calculated incrementally so the only working
solution is to store rotations to the point cache (previously
this was only done for dynamic rotations). This can nearly double
the point cache size so it's not ideal to have this as a default
as in many cases you don't care about particle rotations.
- Particle rotation panel now has a new "enable" checkbox that
enables rotation calculations and the storing of rotations to
  point cache.
- Old files will have rotations enabled via do_versions so that in
the worst case old files will only get bigger point caches, but no
  sudden loss of particle rotations.

*Fixed UI code so that it always uses (RNA) enum, and simplified menu-creation code.

1e173fefd6 Fix #30464: Confusing lack of label for Fluid "use"
It was indeed not clear at all what that label-less check box does.
Move it to next row (to prevent fluid type menu be too narrow) and
use label default for it.

Also don't create second column which is empty for outflow fluid type.

4a90339519 Cycles: support for camera rendering an environment map with equirectangular
environment map, by enabling the Panorama option in the camera.

http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Doc:2.6/Manual/Render/Cycles/Camera#Panorama

The focal length or sensor settings are not used, the UI can be tweaked still to
communicate this, also panorama should probably become a proper camera type like
perspective or ortho.

b2a4fca761 Bugfix for Python errors in 3D View texture paint toolbar.
The stencil- and clone-layer menus were printing errors when the mesh
had no UV layers due to directly accessing layer names. Fixed by
setting menu text to empty if no UV layers exist.

Also changed the checkbox label for cloning from another UV layer to
read 'Clone' rather than 'Layer'.

7cbd4d3576 Sculpt/Paint UI: Add a new menu for brush options.
For vertex/weight/texture paint, this has only the flags for using
unified size/strength. (Addresses TODO in code, before only sculpt
menu had these settings.)

For sculpt, moved the brush-related settings from the sculpt menu to
the brush menu.

Note that these menus are still very out of date (missing lots of
options), will address that in a different commit.

cde2f11244 new bmesh tool - limited dissolve.
This is a kind of simplification/cleanup tool which joins adjacent faces and edges based on the angle.

I've written this as an exercise (since I havnt written a bmesh operator before), and because quite a few users were asking for the dissolve operator to be extended, but I think this kind of functionality needs its own operator.

access from specials menu and mesh menu.

notes
* this exposed a bug in angle_v3v3v3(). will merge fix into trunk after release.
* added utility function BM_vert_edge_angle(), to get the angle between 2 connecting edges of a vert.
